- December 2001: The release of the movie The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring brings together the Tolkien fans on HOL
- January 2002: The HOL Tolkien Society (HOLTS) is founded by Prof. Illyaster Neverwhere
- September 2002: Ruben Granger (later to become Prof. Ruben Orion) hosts the first HOL Lord of the Rings Character Competition in association with HOLTS
- December 2002: The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers is released in cinemas, reviving the club
- February 2002: Alicia Granger is made official collaborator of HOLTS by Prof. Neverwhere
- Late 2002: Prof. Neverwhere quits HOL
- March 2003: Alicia Granger becomes the first President of the HOL Tolkien Society
- April 2003: First elections in the history of the society: Azalia Greenleaf becomes Vice-President of HOLTS, Beatrix Malfoy becomes the first Webmistress, Ruben Orion became the first IRC Coordinator
- May 2003: The acronym HOLTS for Hogwarts On-Line Tolkien Society is created by Ruben Orion, becoming a copyright of the Society
- Late 2003: The first HOLTS Trip to Middle-earth takes place
- August 2004: Prof. Ruben Orion is made President of the HOL Tolkien Society by the HOL Staffmeeting
- September 2004: Venefica vom Lehn is appointed Vice-president of HOLTS by Prof. Ruben Orion
- October 2004: The second HOLTS Trip to Middle-earth takes place
- November 2004: Éowyn McCuill becomes the second Webmistress of HOLTS for a short period of time, being promoted to Vice-President soon after
- December 2004: HOLTS Banner contest. Winner: Rachel Sandersen (later to become Rachel Selenia)
- January 2005: Rachel Sandersen is appointed Vice-President of HOLTS
- February 2005: Second HOL Lord of the Rings Character Competition
- July 2005: First Who am I? game launched
- August 2005: Rachel Sandersen wins the HOLTS Championship and the HOLTS Lembas Award
- September 2005: Ceri McHawk becomes the third HOLTS Webmistress. The third HOLTS Trip to Middle-earth takes place
- October 2005: First Guess the Quote! game launched
- March 2006: Second Guess the Quote! game launched
- August 2006: Niniel Sanders wins the HOLTS Championship and receives the HOLTS Lembas Award. The titles of President and Vice-president of HOLTS are abbolished. All members of the HOLTStaff officially acquire equal rights within the Society.
- September 2006: The Tolkienfest board is created; HOLTS Reads The Hobbit is launched successfully
- November 2006: Second Who am I? game launched
- December 2006: Yuletide festivities begin
- 2007-2009: HOLTS temporarily "paused"
- July 2009: Venefica vom Lehn and Prof. Ruben Orion leave the Staff
- September 2010: Rachel Selenia, now being the lone Head of HOLTS, revives the club
- November 2010: Third Guess the Quote! game launched
